Extractions for Healthier Smiles
When a tooth is beyond saving and at risk of causing damage to your oral health, the best option may be removal. While our dentists will consider minimally invasive treatment options first, it may not always be possible to save the tooth.
At Richmond Village Dental, our priority is your health and comfort. If an extraction is deemed necessary, we will take the time to share our findings, including any X-rays, and explain the purpose of the extraction.
We know that communication can go a long way in helping you feel more at ease. We are also happy to discuss sedation for your procedure to help you remain comfortable throughout the visit.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the last set of molars to erupt, usually in patients between 17 and 25 years of age. These teeth are positioned in the very back corners of the jaw.
This third set of teeth is not always functional and can push against the nearest teeth as they erupt, causing damage. They may also create problems with your oral hygiene since it may be difficult to reach the very back of your mouth with your toothbrush. In these cases, your dentist may recommend removing them.
Repairing Excessive Damage
Common reasons for pulling a tooth include excessive tooth damage and problematic wisdom teeth. Teeth are also sometimes pulled to prepare for other dental procedures.
If you require a tooth extraction, our team will also discuss the various types of tooth replacement options that are recommended to restore your smile and retain the function of your bite.
