Replace Your Missing Teeth
Missing teeth are a serious oral health issue that can leave you feeling embarrassed and reluctant to smile, but this doesn't have to plague you for life. There are a number of options to fill the gaps left by missing teeth, like dentures.
Full and partial dentures can be custom-fitted to meet your specific needs. These dental prosthetics can help to improve the function of your mouth and maintain the natural contours of your jawline.
Dentures are held in place by suction, and in some cases, denture adhesive or clasps, to provide you with a secure and comfortable way to replace missing teeth, giving you lots of reasons to smile.

Dentures to Meet Your Specific Needs
Dentures have come a long way over the years, now providing a better fit and more natural appearance than ever before.
Your dentures will be custom-made to fit your mouth precisely and can be adjusted over time as your mouth and gumline change.

-
Full Dentures
Your dentist will use full dentures, commonly referred to as false teeth or complete dentures, if you are missing all the teeth in either your upper or lower jaw, or both.
Your dentures will be custom-made to fit your mouth and are held in place by suction and/or with the help of an oral adhesive.
Full dentures can be removed for cleaning and sleeping.
-
Implant-Supported Dentures
If there is not enough gum tissue to support full dentures, dental implants may be used to help stabilize the dentures for a secure fit.
-
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures can be made from different materials including cast metal and acrylic, and can be used to fill the gap left by one or more missing teeth.
Your dentist may recommend partial dentures to restore your smile if the surrounding teeth are not strong enough to support a dental bridge.
These dentures are kept securely in place by clasps that fit onto your natural teeth or a tooth replacement such as a dental crown.
Partial dentures can be removed for cleaning and also at night to help you sleep more comfortably.
What To Expect From The Denture Process
Once you and your dentist have determined that dentures are right for you, the first step will be removing any teeth that need to be extracted. Your dentist may recommend that you wear a temporary denture as a way to more easily transition between the extraction phase and receiving your permanent dentures.
Next, your dentist will take impressions of your jaw and mouth and create a wax or plastic model. You will try the model on several times to ensure that the fit, shape and colour are right for you, then your permanent dentures will be created.
Now, it's time to give your new dentures a try. They will remain in place with suction. A small retractor seals a one-way valve, creating a vacuum between the gums and dentures. Some discomfort is bound to occur at first, but this will ease. Denture adhesive may be applied to help prevent gum irritation.
Although your dentures have been made specifically for you, adjustments to the fit may be required both when you first receive them and later, as your gums and jaws change shape over time. Speak to your dentist whenever you feel that your dentures need to be adjusted.
